This video highlights the areas of Berlin that were formally part of East Berlin. My goal was to contrast these areas as they were under the DDR and show them as they appear today . My 2006 photos were made to look like old black and white photos from perhaps the 70s or 80s. The video portions was put through several filters in Final Cut Pro to look like color shifted, scratched, old 8mm film, rather than digital video shot in 2005 and 2006.
This video shows the sad state of some abandoned railroad equipment left to rust and decay along side a busy mainline railroad track. In addition to video, it features a collection of film photography taken with my Lomo and Smena Russian-made cameras, showcasing several photographic techniques. The video was edited and treated to match the unique look of photographs taken with the Lomo cameras.
A demo reel/commercial for SL3 Media Works inspired by a 1960s East German commercial for ORWO Film. The concept follows the original ORWO commercial, but uses clips of video I have shot for various projects. Bits of the original ORWO video were left in their original point of the timeline to keep the feeling of the vintage commercial. I also created the SL3 "film boxes" at the end to match the look of the original commercial.
A short music video compilation documenting my time behind the wheel of a Trabant on the streets of Berlin in 2007. Since the Trabant was an old East German car and all the shots in the video are in locations formerly part of East Berlin, I aged the video and made it look like film to give the feel of being filmed in heady days of the DDR. This video was created in 2008 to be part of a presentation for my German class. The song is an old East German pop music classic.
